Hey Jimmy,
Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Pleased to hear you like Buddy and Brian!!
If you like their playing you should definitely check out Chris Cheney. He's in an Australian band called The Living End. I love them!! Their web site: www.thelivingend.com and myspace page www.myspace.com/thelivingend

Re: favourite guitarists
Is that in the order you discovered them Dunc?
Seeing RUSH with you and Gav was one of the best gigs ever!! Couldn't believe what a sound just the three of them made. Alex Lifeson was superb.
Glen Campbell live was also brilliant. Real feel good songs.
Hi Ho Silver!!
PS Amazed to see you've finally posted a message!!!

Hey Gloria and GretchKat - we're truly international with you two here!!
You're right GK57 it is really hard narrowing down names - Buddy and Brian are the guys who inspired me the most at different times and spurred me on... also seeing Jools Holland's guitarist Mark Flanagan.

My favourite guitarists
Yes, Faith, it's sort of chronological. There are loads of other players that I really like but these are the ones that I listened to the most as a young budding guitar player.
My two absolute all time favourites (as you of course know) are Buddy Holly and Vinnie Moore. They have definitely inspired me the most and had the biggest influence on my own playing style, although I don't think I'll ever be as good as them!
Vinnie Moore's "Mind's Eye" album is the album that I have listened to more than any other. I remember getting that album at the end of the summer in 1987 and being totally blown away! Vinnie Moore's style is the perfect combination of melody, feel and virtuosity. When I heard that album I knew how I wanted to play. That's when I decided to go to GIT.
Buddy Holly inspired me to want to play in the first place. Dad's vinyl record collection got some serious wear and tear! That's how I learned to play; by listening to records (with a little help from Bert Weedon's "Pick A Chord" book).
